The special gift is something I gave to my mother, it was a necklace, on Mother’s day, and actually I’d been to different shops to search for what I was going to give my mother because, you know, giving her anything is really special.
I visited many different shops before I decided to buy a beautiful necklace. I paid for it and asked the salesman if he could wrap it for me in nice colored gift paper and put a nice red ribbon on it. Then I took it home and I hid it from my mother until the party.
We always organize a party for our mother on Mother’s Day, so I didn't tell her about it until the party and when I gave it to her she was really happy, she was almost in tears because she really liked it and she told me she thought it was very beautiful, she was simply happy that I’d thought about giving her a gift.
Now, she wears it all the time when she goes out or with her friends, she always tells them about it, explaining that her daughter bought it for her. She was really proud and happy about it.

My best friend’s birthday is coming. I would like to buy a small photo album and I want to put 50 pictures in that album. Most importantly, I will write about funny experience we had before below each photo with "the birthday book" on the front page. It might cost less than 100 but I promise she will love it.
I still remember she once said "…suffer when you suffer, and laugh when you laugh. I will bite my tongue when impatient words come…" We are friends since we both are wimpy kids. We have been through a lot of difficulties and have a lot of stories during these 20 years. Those 50 pictures record everything and each experience we together. It is not expensive but it is creative and cute with all my memories, so I bet she loves that.

Right, well the best gift I have received was my father's pocket watch. He gave it to me on my wedding day. You see, I know my father is not wealthy and he wanted to give me something important even though he didn't have to. He always loved this watch. I know this, because I remember one day when the watch wasn't working properly. Well, he was in quite a panic, because, he told me he felt like he was carrying around a sick baby in his belt.
I always wondered what was so special about the watch. It seemed so funny to me, especially as I was growing up. Everyone else was buying those digital wristwatches, and his watch seemed like something out of the past. So I wondered if it might be an antique or a famous watch. My mother didn't say much to me, but she did tell me once that the watch wouldn't fetch much more than a few RMB if it were sold, but that my father might even kill or die to protect that watch. You know, after my father died about a year ago, I asked my mother about the pocket watch. I had mainly kept it in my drawer but after he died I felt like I needed to know about this watch. My mother told me it was a watch my grandfather wore as well. You see my grandfather was killed in the war between Japan and China, and all that was found on him was this pocket watch that I guess the Japanese had neglected to take from him after they shot him. So this watch seems to carry the soul of both my father and my grandfather.
