Task:Describe a time you needed to use imagination.

You should say:

What was the situation.

Why you needed to use imagination.

Explain how you felt when you were using imagination.

During my childhood, roleplaying games are the staple for us kids to kill dull time such as the long summer holiday afternoons. It is a game of fun and importantly of imagination.

We roared around on our horses (sticks) shooting each other with rifles and handguns (sticks) and dying in agony, only to get up again a few moments later to resume the fighting. Sometimes we would be horribly wounded and the game would morph into Nurses and Doctors with much bandaging and splinting (sticks), injections (sticks), thermometers under tongues (sticks) (... in retrospect I am delighted that we had no idea there was any other way to take temperatures!)

I have no idea if there was any plan or strategy to our games but they were always outdoors, often involved co-opting our willing pets as playmates (we lived in the country and didn't always have enough victims for our shoot-outs). The dogs, we found, quickly learned they were supposed to "die" when shot, the cats however, were hopeless for that. We had to send them off as "carrier pigeons" with notes attached for reinforcements.

We had court cases and put our cowardly teddy-bears on trial for desertion and hanged them, afterwards having lovely ceremonial funerals, complete with flowers and everyone (including the pets) dressed up in mourning clothes.

Oh it was all such fun. all the characters, the roles we saw on TV, in movies and in cartoons, all the heroes, the villains were impersonated by us. We were just normal kids but it was like we had relived so many and colourful magnificent lives

A century ago now, it seems. I can't wait for my second childhood to begin!

Topic:Describe a time you needed to use imagination.

You should say:

what the situation was

why you needed to use imagination

what the difficulties were

and explain how you felt about it.

Sample answer:

You can use your imagination to help you through a number of situations. For instance, you can use it to take mini-vacation in your mind, helping you to relax in the middle of life's everyday problems.

On the other hand imagination is necessary sometimes. For example,Think about a scenario without failure. That is,when you are thinking about a problem or situation, imagine that you cannot fail. Think about options you normally wouldn't consider because you think they are risky. Imagination is important for everyone in our life,it is the power of creative thinking.

I think the most difficulty thing of having imagination is that people always indulge in the world of it. People always do not want to think about challenges in the real life because things are risky, instead of it,they decide to live in the world of imagination. Thus,we need to know what the differences between the real world and imagination world.

When I using imagination I could feel passionate and I believe I have more creativity and innovation ideas. Also some of the most influential and innovative creations have come from the simple act of imagining something bigger, easier,or more beautiful. Moreover, scientists and creative artists have an amazing gift for thinking outside the box and allowing their imaginatlons the freedom to grow.

1.Why do most children have a wild imagination?

Because children have the benefit of not knowing what is not possible. For them everything is feasible. What’s more young children get praise and encouragement from their parents and teachers for almost any work they do – particularly for imaginative stories or weird pieces of art. They have heard tales of magic and they see around them technology doing all sorts of amazing things. As far as they are concerned every problem can be solved.

They have time to let their minds play without worries of keeping up an adult life. Also they are less caught up in their egos, so they aren't set in one way of thinking in order to maintain their self-image.

2.What kinds of books can boost people's imagination?

Books based on wild imagination, like si-fiction, are good thought food for an imaginative mind. an important reason people read science fiction is "sense of wonder".It explores all the possibilities for humans operating within the rules of that universe. It is about future and fantasy. Every time you read something that you did not expect, and you experience some cognitive dissonance, your imagination is working to expand.

3.Do you like to watch movies about the future?

Science fiction movies are one of those genres that i just cannot get enough of. so yeah ,I enjoy them very much.

Science fiction movies allow people to open up their imaginations to all sorts of possibilities. What if there is life on other planets? What if that life came here to Earth? What if that life form was bad? What if that life form was good? All of these questions are things we ask ourselves and these types of movies allow us to explore the possibilities. Just like my all-time favourite The Matrix Trilogy, they offer you new ways to see the world and self.

4.What can schools do for students' creativity?

I think staff should learn the importance of creativity in a fast changing world, where people need new ways of addressing new problems and how to improve situations to come in an uncertain future.

Offer many different ways to express creativity. Give them opportunity to create whatever they want using the materials they want, so offer them time, materials, etc.

Don’t be critical too early. Let them enjoy what they do, let them discover what they like, appreciate what they do not as a finished product, but as a sign of the creativity that they carry inside. Appreciate any small thing. When people are motivated, they do things, when they do things they become easier and perform better.

Teach them about creativity and creative thinking process appropriately to their age. Teach their parents that the same creativity to do beautiful thinks, to construct things with paper or wood, the same creativity to play and have fun, it is the same creativity parents can use to improve their lives and their children’s lives.

1.How do people in China celebrate birthdays?

throw a party, have birthday gatherings, most people acknowledge their birthday, but they don't actually celebrate it.

2. How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

I'd like to...get some gifts and have cake and stuff. Or make a long trip to Europe with my girlfriend.

Leap year, once every four years I'm able to celebrate my birthday on the 29th Feb.

3. What did you do on your last birthday?

went out and got drunk, got showered with gifts, went shopping... went to beijing new oriental school to improve my language ability (同上)

4. Are birthdays more important for children or for adults?

Children. You enjoy growing up as a child, but despise aging as an adult.(小孩过生日可以享受成长的乐趣:enjoy growing up)

For children and for older people it's important, for middle aged guys I think it's not that important, coz generally they are too busy with work or being a parent....but in retirement it's important again because that is a chance they get to see family.....

5. Do you like to celebrate your birthday with your family or your friends?

Friends, because you can be yourself and do crazy things together.

Well...it's difficult to choose ONE answer...but honestly, I like celebrating with both of them..
