1. Are you interested in robots? Why?

Um… Not really. I mean, I'm not a science buff. I'm not that into things like robots. And to be honest, I'm kind of afraid of them. Maybe that's because I've watched too many science fictions, I always feel that one day, when science and technology is super advanced, robots will take over the earth and destroy human beings. And in some areas, it's already happening, you know, robots have replaced human labor in many industries.

I don't see why not. I mean, I'm the kind of person who's always curious about new inventions, and I would be elated if I could be the first one to try it. People might be concerned about the safety, but that won't bother me at all, I'm sure the safety is guaranteed already, otherwise they won't allow the car to run on the road.

4. What sorts of things can robots do today?

Well, some robots could be programmed to do some simple repetitive work, for example, in some factories, human labor has already been replaced by robots. And I believe there must be other things they could do that I don't know about. Like, there might be intelligent robots that can perform to entertain people or to interact with people, that sort of thing.

5. What do you think robots might be able to do in people's homes in the future?

Well, in the future, robots are likely to fill in many roles in our home. For example, we could have robot maids and robot babysitters who can take care of our children. And when we are busy and don't have time to walk our dog, robots can do it for us, so it's like, robot dog-walkers. And most importantly, in the future, it's highly possible that robots could be so intelligent that they could have an interactive conversation with people, so they could keep us company. This is extremely necessary for people who live alone.

I once read a piece of good news on the website of the New York Times. It was two years ago, I was still a journalism student and one of my tutors assigned me to do a presentation for my news-gathering course. The time limit was five minutes and it was supposed to be a critique, i.e., stating clearly what was good and bad about the story.

So I started preparing for my assignment. I was skimming through pages and clicking around when this article caught my eye. Basically, it was about a high school student who got bullied because he stuttered. The news story was a good one because it wasn’t what I expected it to be — a one-sided story that went on about the poor boy.

This piece was actually rather fair and balanced. It tried to show the readers what had happened to the stutterer and they gave the alleged bullies a chance to give their side of the story. From the journalistic perspective, it was a neat one.

I always give priority to shopping online whenever I have spare time instead of going to stores or supermarkets. So, this website is very handy for me as I can take advantage of my mobile phone or computer with an Internet connection to access it and purchase what I need.

I find this website very appealing due to its good layout and attractive images of products. There is a box for me to enter what items I’m looking for so I can avoid browsing items unnecessarily, as I’m able to find quickly the things I need. After that the items I have bought will be delivered right to my door so I can save a lot of time. Not only that, there is always the chance to get a good deal and discounts as there are various promotion programs.

This website has important advantages for me, such as convenience and the benefits of saving time and money. Now it plays a useful role in my daily life. In the future I will continue to visit the site and of course recommend it to my friends.
