　　As is indicated in the above picture. the emerging term“Shanzhaiculture"，or copycat culture, is gaining popularity in China. Once usedto describe the copying of electronic products，the catchphrase hasnow been applied to the cloning of everything that is popular，rangingfrom daily necessities to entertainments，even celebrities. Nowadaysthe phenomenon has stirred a heated debate in China.

　　Some people. especially youngsters，voice their support for Shanzhaiculture，believing it adds diversification to orthodox culture and bringsfun to our lives. At the same time, they point out that it breaksconventional boundary and challenges authority. Thus，the trendshould be encouraged as long as it doesn't violate laws and regulations.

　　In contrast，others urge a campaign be launched to combat therampant activities，which will probably lead to certain consequences. Forone thing. the copying of brand products is a kind of piracy, runningcounter to Intellectual Property Rights;for another, under thedisguise of grass-roots wisdom，Shanzhai culture proves to be anaction lacking creativity and therefore will hamper our innovation in thelong run.

　　Personally. I side with the latter party. In spite of its currentprosperity, I am convinced that under no circumstances is Shanzhaiculture going to replace what it imitates.

　　如上图所示，崭露头角的“山寨文化”，即模仿文化，在国内越来越流行。这个时髦词原意指仿造的电子产品，而今可用于描述任何流行事物的模仿:从日常用品到娱乐活动，甚至是名人。如今这一现象引发了人们热烈的争论。

　　有些人，尤其是年轻人，支持山寨文化，认为它使正统文化更加多元，而且为我们的生活带来了乐趣。同时，他们指出，山寨文化打破传统的界限，并挑战，因此在不违反法律法规的情况下，应鼓励这一趋势。

　　与之相反，另一些人则极力主张发起一场运动，与这一猖撅的行为作斗争，因为它可能会导致某些后果。其一，对产品的仿造是某种意义上的剿窃，与知识产权背道而驰;其二，尽管披着草根智慧的外衣，山寨文化被证明是缺乏创造力的行为，因此从长远来看，它会阻碍创新意识的发展。

　　个人而言，我赞成第二种观点。我相信，尽管山寨文化现在很流行，但它决不会取代被其模仿的事物。
