Being first place at the Tchaikovsky International Young Musicians’ Competition and playing the complete Chopin Etudes at the Beijing Concert Hall at 13, he left for America the following year.He began studies with Gary Graffman at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. He worked extremely hard with passion, and when his moment came, he was ready.

That moment happened when, aged 17, he was called upon to make a dramatic last-minute substitution for the famous Andre Watts to perform in the “Gala Of The Century”, playing a Tchaikovsky concerto with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. It made him what journalists like to call an “overnight star” and the world’s finest concert halls quickly beckoned.

写朗朗英语作文篇五:

Lang Lang’s father Lang Guoren has to be the first and most important “teacher” in his life. As mentioned before, he was a professional erhuist in his early years, and has also worked for the government. However, he gave up his very well-paid job as a police officer for his son’s future. He accompanied Lang Lang through enormous amount of piano lessons, competitions and concerts. When being asked how he was determined to make such a sacrificial decision, he said: “The answer is very obvious when it comes to comparing my future to his. We even borrowed money so that he could attend international competitions.” With this being said, many people might see Lang Guoren as a kind and loving father. However, every coin has two sides. During Lang’s childhood, his father had almost “beaten him to death”, and threatened him to take pills just because he came home late for one hour due to a performance. Lang Guoren’s parenting method is very controversial: some may say that it is more beneficial since he has raised his son to be very successful and famous, while others argue that although Lang Lang has received fame and money, he has been living under great pressure from his father and has lost his childhood completely, which can burry the seed for potential mental issues.

Lang Lang’s first professional piano teacher is Zhu Yafen, a professor at Shenyang Conservatory of music majoring in piano teaching. She is also the teacher that has taught Lang Lang for the longest time, and they have built a close relationship. “I decided to tutor Lang Lang mainly because of his talents,” Zhu said in an interview, “I have discovered his passion and interest in music the first time I met him. He has a strong willingness to perform as well as a strong sense for rhythm and melodies.” Later, when he finally got admitted into China’s Central Conservatory of Music, his teacher is Zhao Guoping, who has experience in teaching piano for more than 40 years.

At the age of 14, Lang Lang was a featured soloist at the China National Symphony's inaugural concert, which was broadcasted by China Central Television and attended by President Jiang Zemin. The following year, he began studies with Gary Graffman at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.Gary Graffmanis an American classical pianist, music administrator, and most important of all, a teacher of the piano. Although he sprained the ring finger of his right hand and was forced to stop using his right hand, he was still able to pursue his love for music. In 1980, he joined the faculty at the Curtis Institute where his career had begun. He took over as the school's director in 1986, and added the title of President in 1995, serving in both capacities through May 2006. He continues on the faculty at Curtis teaching piano. Besides Lang Lang, he has many notable students such asLydia Artymiw, Yuja Wang, and Haochen Zhang.
