描写物体的英语作文篇一:

With the rapid development of urbanization, many people advocate the demolition of old houses for the benefit of economic and social development. But others argue that we can’t ruin the traditional cultural heritage. Personally, I side with the former opinion.

In the first place, the existence of old houses is an obstacle to modern urbanization by damaging the image of the city. If they are replaced with modern skyscrapers, the city will take on a new look. Take the Summer Palace in Beijing for example, Being government has demolished a large number of run-down the Summer Palace and constructed many new housing buildings instead.

In the second place, there is a potential danger to people living in old houses or even passers-by. If the houses are old enough to collapse in the end, where does the value of culture or tourism exist? The tourists surely will not travel a long distance to see these so-called “culture heritage” at the risk of their lives. [More:www.cnielts.com]

In the third place, replacing old houses with buildings can help to solve housing problems. It is well-known that China is a densely-populated country and people in urban areas only have little housing space. Undoubtedly, replacing old houses with new buildings is a good way to solve the problem.

As mentioned above, I can draw a conclusion safely: It is irresistible to replace old houses with modern buildings. At the same time, it is necessary for us to restore a limited number of old houses for the sake of conserving traditional culture and attracting tourists.

描写物体的英语作文篇二:

These days, different ways are being taken to protect cultural identity.Obviously, not onlyis much contribution made to maintain old housesbut alsorules of laws associated with cultural protection turn out to be better. Some people even say that new houses are right to be set up same as traditional ones.I seem to be one of opponentswho believe thatthe action can be unsuitable in our world.

One of the main reasons is thatmost of traditional buildings, in my nation, that are capable of fewer people is hard to meet the demands for housingasincreasing numbers of people pour into the city.Compared tolast decade, today’s population has doubled and even trebled, which puts serious pressure on housing supply. As a result, old houses must be substituted for new ones that have more efficient utility, let alonevery traditional ones.

No doubts thatbuilding or maintaining traditional buildings are very essential to raise art sense and increase choices of people’s housing.Plus, these old housesare believed asvery important resources to attract international visitors. However, the proportion of traditional houses has to be under control, and otherwisethe housing of citizens is badly affected.

Overall, my view is thatcultural identity is so precious that more efforts and measures should be taken but carefully. The excellent tradition helps with deep understanding of history, and educates youths.Neverthelessa simple and reckless behavior. that new houses are built in a typical waydoes more harm than goodin the improvement of people’s being.

描写物体的英语作文篇三:

The culture of a country changes in the course of social development. This is what is happening in developing nations such as China. Government has the obligation to preserve the culture of a country in a proper way.

In the real-estate business, for example, developers build houses, apartments , and offices to meet the demands of consumers differing in taste and spending power. Some buildings are built in traditional style as a selling point to differentiate from competing products. In some cases, a municipal government tries to give its city a unique aroma by constructing buildings in old style.

However, such newly built "old" buildings appear strikingly different from the originals centuries old. On the campus of Peking University, we can easily tell the differences between the old and the new. Even we admire the university's efforts, this is not a work beautifully done. More examples would be found in many architects that are ridiculed by both consumers and critics.

The real issue is: could culture be replicated? If yes, then to what extent do buildings represent a culture? In China, the more commonly known architect styles are found in temples or palaces. Though the government tries to recreate such places, people often label them as fake.

In spite of the disadvantages in government's efforts in cultural preservation, we have to recognize that such endeavor reminds people of their unique identity and legacy. And it balances the trend that tries to make everything western just to keep up with the trend.

To sum up, it is very hard or sometimes impossible for the government to create truly good work in traditional style to preserve a culture. Nonetheless, such efforts are worthy because of the positive influences they have on people in a country with rich history and culture like China.

描写物体的英语作文篇四:

In Tianjin, there are many buildings of bygone times. Some of them are imposing and have great artistic and historic value. However, these buildings do mot fit in well with each other, because most of them were built by foreigners in different times. The traffic in the city is not very convenient. The street are usually narrow and twisted. If the government wanted to have them widened,a large number of buildings would have to be pulled down. Some buildings are too old and are nothing more than cottages, and in place of them, some new high buildings have been set up.However, the new ones are still few and in many places they seem quite out of place.

Yet those Western-style buildings give Tianjin a different characteristic from other cities and those new ones lend the city fresh vitality which will spread rapidly with the reform going on.
