  Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better to be a member of a group than to be the leader of a group. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
  That people are more suitable to be a member of a group rather than the leader of the group or the other way round depends primarily on their differences in personalities, abilities and many other factors. Therefore, it is incorrect to claim that being a member is better than being a leader of a group. Instead, this must proceed from one's own actual situations.
  In the first place, some people are more suitable to be members of a group. This has nothing to do with destiny because many people's personalities and abilities decide that they are just good at being members rather than leaders. Introverted people, for example, may find it hard to conduct effective communications with others,thus unsuitable to be leaders. As to those who do not possess the abilities as required of leaders, such as the ability to organize, to coordinate, to be creative and innovative, to resist pressure, being leaders means a lot of suffering and struggling, thus very bad to their physical and mental health. In such circumstances, it is surely better to be members of a group.
  In the second place, some people are born to be leaders. Apart from the above-mentioned abilities, a leader also needs to have a good personality. He must be broadminded, optimistic, earnest in doing things,sensitive and decisive. Why are these qualities necessary? Let's see from an example. If many people in a group are not happy with a certain decision, the leader must be sensitive enough to realize it. Otherwise, arbitrary enforcement will definitely harm the unity of the group, resulting in strong resentment. For another example, an opportunity appears, but to grasp it means taking risks. If letting it pass, a chance for a big development may be lost. To take the risk or to lose the opportunity needs the decisiveness of the leader and this is not what every person is able to do which in turn entails that not everyone suits to be a leader. But some people are just born with these qualities and, therefore, they suit to become leaders and it is a waste of all these talents if they are just members of a group.
  Sure, people's personalities and abilities can be remolded and cultivated and will not just remain to be as it is. But even when one has already possessed the abilities and personalities as required of a leader, it does not necessarily mean that he will just become a leader. It also depends on whether he likes it or not. In our real life,there are indeed people who do not meet the requirement of a leader but want very much to be leaders. Likewise,there are also many others who are qualified to be leaders but just wish to be ordinary members of a group. All these can only be said to be personal preferences and is nothing right or wrong.
  From the above discussion, we can see that whether to be a member or a leader of a group should be based on one's actual conditions and personal preferences, so the view that being a member of a group is always better than being a leader can not really hold water.

  其次,有的人适合做领导。领导者需要具有以上所述的多方面能力,当然还需具备一个开朗、乐观、做事细致、感觉敏锐、决策力强的个性。为什么这些条件是必要的呢?我们举个例子吧。如果团队中很多人对某个决定不满意,做领导者的应该敏锐地意识到,否则,强力推行必然会影响团队的团结,导致强烈的不满。再比如,现在有个机遇,但需要承担风险,如果不能抓住这个机会,可能会丧失一次大的发展;如果把握了,又可能会失败,究竟该怎么办呢?这就需要领导者的决断了。而这恐怕不是每个人都能够做到的,也就意味着不是每个人都可以担当领导者的。但有人天生就具备这些条件,所以他们就适合做领导,做队员是对这些才能的浪费。
  当然,人的个性和能力是可以培养的,并非一成不变的。如果能力和个性具备了,那还要看个人是喜欢做领导者还是喜欢做队员。现实生活中确实有人不具备做领导者的要求却很想去做领导,也确实有人具备了领导者的能力而喜欢做普通一员,这一切都只能说是个人的偏好了,没有对与错。
  基于以上论证,我们说,选择做领导或是做普通一员需根据自己的实际情况和个人的偏好去断定,简单地认为做普通一员比做领导者好的观点是不对的。
