until now 的意思是“直到现在(为止)”，表示从过去某时持续到现在的一段时间，通常与现在完成时连用。如：
Until now I have always lived alone. 我一直独自生活至今。
Until now the President has shut his eyes to this problem. 总统至今仍对这个问题视而不见。
【注】以下两句中的until now比较特殊，因为其中的until与前面的“否定”构成了类似于not…until…(直到……才)这样的句式，此时，句子通常用一般过去时。如：

涉及状语从句的特定时态：
“主将从现”原则，即若主句为一般将来时，时间和条件状语从句通常要用一般现在时表示将来，而不能直接使用将来时态。如：
I’ll give her the telex when she comes. 她来时把电传交给她。
I’ll return the book as soon as I have read it. 这书一看完我就送还。
