　　"When in Rome, do as the Romans do" will be the first advice for any tourist traveling around the globe. But there is a question that has been bothering me for a while that what is the reason we travel and the possibility. of not traveling. Personally, both sides of the issue should be considered.

　　To some extent, it is necessary for tourists to imitate the local behaviors just like the natives:First and foremost, it is fun for all travelers to do so, such as joining in a march of the street in the Western holiday or tasting some fantastic foods with the traditional Indian clothes on. In other words,it is a good way to feel and understand the local culture by oneself. Second, it is a good way to avoid the offensiveness in the strange places such as never trying to touch someone's head in some Western countries and never carrying eggs in one's pocket when traveling in Turkey.All advice is for nothing but one's pleasant trip and impressive experience.

　　On the contrary, in some particular situations, there is no need and reason to copy whatever the local does: For one thing, it is important to keep one's own personality- no matter where he is. In other words, if there are conflicts between one's habits and the local customs, it is a must for tourists to keep and insist on his own hobbies rather than follow the rules in the native situation. For another, what's the worse is that some customs even go against the law and rules nationally and internationally. It is common sense that adhering to the law and rules is the first priority- for all citizens; without it nothing can be done but in chaos.

　　Comparing both the "do's" and "don'ts" , it is hard to draw up a conclusion eventually.However, as a tourist, following one's feeling and heart, doing something meaningful for oneself is the key to enjoying one's trip, and this is my conclusion for the issue mentioned above.

　　“入乡随俗”是对环球旅行者的第一忠告。但总有个问题困扰我，那就是我们为什么要“入乡随俗”及不这么做的可能性。个人认为，问题的双方面都要进行讨论。

　　从某种程度上，游客有必要像当地人一样尊重当地的风俗习惯。第一也是重要的是，游客这么做会很有乐趣，例如在西方节日加入到街头游行的队伍之中，或者穿着传统印度服饰品尝美味佳肴。换句话说，这是一种亲自感受和领悟当地文化的好方法。第二，这是避免在陌生环境冒犯他人的一个好办法，像是在一些西方国家不要去摸别人的头，也不要在土耳其时把鸡蛋装在自己的口袋里。所有的建议都是为了有个美好的旅程和难忘的经历。

　　相反，在一些特殊情况下，没有必要也没有理由去模仿当地行为。一方面，无论在何地，保持一个人的个性是非常重要的。换句话说，如果个人习惯和当地风俗存在矛盾，毫无疑问游客应该保留和坚持自己的习惯，而不是盲从当地情况。另一方面，更糟糕的是，当地一些风俗甚至可能会违反国内外的法律。常识告知我们，守法是对一个公民起码的要求，如果没有法律，那万事将没有定论地处于无序状态。

　　尽管权衡了“能做的”和“不能做的”，但很难终得出结论。然而，作为旅行者，跟随自己的感觉和内心，做一些对自己有意义的事情，才是享受整个旅行的关键。这也就是我对上述问题的总结。
