I'd like to have a really serious try on a food called ASADO, which is the most traditional and popular meal in Argentina.
Asado can be translated as "barbecue" and an asado meal normally consists of beef, chicken, and several animal organs. Asado can be prepared in different ways, but my favorite is charcoal-grilled because it gives the meats a special wood-burning flavor. What's more, a well-prepared asado allows consumers to taste the tenderness and juiciness of the meats. Since I have always been a meat lover, asado has naturally become my favorite meal.
As I said, asado is the most popular meal in Argentina, and basically every tourist traveling to Argentina wants to try it at least once during their visit. Short ribs are considered the main dish in an asado meal, and that's why it is the most commonly consumed part of the cow in Argentina. An asado meal is commonly served with fresh salad and some traditional spices and condiments.
Because of the high costs of the meats nowadays, asado is only served in special events such as birthdays, anniversaries, or important holidays like Christmas or the New Year. In my case, the last time I had asado was when my wife and I invited a bunch of Taiwanese friends to our housewarming party and I wanted to let them have a taste at this traditional South American meal. To my delight, the asado I prepared come out perfect; it was neither undercooked nor overcooked, it was just right and the meats were so flavorful, juicy and tender.
All in all, I would say that asado is perfect for gatherings between family and friends. People not only can enjoy and taste a wide variety of barbecued foods but also have a great time together.

When do you usually have meals?
Well, like most people, I have meals three times a day, with the first one in the morning, around 8 o’clock, the following one at noon, about 12 o’clock, and the last one in the late afternoon, around 17 o’clock.
What is your favorite cuisine?
I am a big fan of hot pot, especially this very type called Chongqing hot pot, to which Sichuan pepper, also known as ‘prickly ash’, is added. A Chongqing hotpot is markedly different from the types eaten in other parts of China. Quite often the differences lie in the meats used, the type of soup base, and the sauces and condiments used to flavor the meat. It is quite spicy though, something much to my pleasure.
Do you prefer to dine in or dine out?
Well honestly, I’d usually prefer to dine in, spending some precious time with my beloved family members. I love listening to my father giving comments on all kinds of stuff over lunch time, with my mom sitting right next to him, nodding gently as he goes on with his long speech. I’d say this is just something touching to look at.

Ok, well after thinking long and hard about it just now, I suppose the special meal I would have might be a bit like this…
First of all, it would definitely be at my home, and I would be the one cooking, as I think this would be a lot better than just going out to some retaurant where we might not be able to fully enjoy ourselves. And the reason I say this is that whenever I’ve tried to have special meals at restaurants in the past, things have invariably gone wrong, such as waiters messing up the orders, or having to wait ages for the food to arrive, so from now on, I would much prefer to be in full control of everything, and I guess the best way of this happening would be to have the meal in my own home. Of course, it would be a bit more effort doing this, but I’m sure it would be much more enjoyable.
So anyway, as for who I would invite, well, bearing in mind that my dining table at home only seats about six, I would only be able to invite a handful of friends, so I guess they would be the ones I’ve known the longest, and having them over for lunch or dinner would be a good way of showing my gratitude to them for all the support they’ve given me over the years.
So, with that in mind, I would make sure that I cooked something really nice for them, and this would, most likely, be pasta in a tomato and cheese sauce, which I consider to be my best dish, as it really does taste amazingly good, if I may say so myself! So that would be the main course, and as for dessert, I would probably serve them chocolate cake, as I’m a bit of a chocoholic, along with maybe some ice cream and strawberries, just in case any of them didn’t like the cake.
And this, in my books, would make a fantastic meal, which I’m sure my friends would all appreciate.
