1) How did your parents choose your name?

To be truthful, I’m not sure how they chose it; I’ve never asked them. I suppose it was just a name that they both liked, and maybe they thought it suited me.

2) Does your name have any special meaning?

I think it might do, but I don’t know what that meaning is; I’ve never looked it up. Maybe I’ll google it later today; you’ve made me curious to find out!

3) Is your name common or unusual in your country?

Yes, it’s quite a common name. I remember that there were two other people with the same name as me in my class at school.

4) If you could change your name, would you?

Not at all, I definitely wouldn’t. My name is part of my identity now, and it would feel strange to suddenly change it. I don’t think my friends and family would like that either.

1. Are there any special customs about wedding in your region?

这个问题最好用举例子的方式拓展问题,可以用for example, for instance, a typical example is that…

Sample Answer:Weddings in my hometown have many special customs and traditions. One thing I want to share with you is that on the wedding day, the bride's family may act trying to prevent the bride meeting the groom, while the groom's family tries to get the bride into the groom's family home. I think it is the most interesting part of the ceremony.

2. How have weddings changed in recent years?

在谈到以前的时候可以用 in the past; traditionally, historically; in the last xx years/ decades; 在谈到现在的时候可以用nowadays; at present; in recent years; now; these days… Sample Answer:I think weddings in China have changed a lot in recent years. In the past, wedding ceremonies were often conducted in traditional ways. However, nowadays, western weddings have gained much popularity. In addition, wedding expenses tend to increase quite a lot. In the present days, some weddings are really extravagant and the wedding bill could go up to 10 million RMB. It is unbelievable for me!

3. Where do couples in your country usually go for their honeymoons?

加分词汇:on a tight budget:预算紧张honeymoon destination:蜜月目的地lovebird:相爱的人fairy-tale theme park:童话世界般的主题公园

Sample Answer:I suppose it depends on their budget. People with different financial backgrounds may choose different honeymoon destinations. In my opinion, a beach holiday is always the most popular choice since it can bring them romance as well as relaxation.

4. Where do you think a newly-wed couple should live, living with their parents or on their own?

I hold the opinion that…, I believe…,I suppose…, from my perspectivefrom my point of view

Sample Answer:Personally, I believe a newly-wed couple should live on their own. I hold this opinion for two reasons. First of all, newly-wed couples need some private space to enjoy the company of each other. Most importantly, living on their own can help them adapt to their marriage life soon. It can be helpful for the stability of their marriage.

Please describe an event that resulted in a positive change in your lifeYou should say:

When it happened

Where it happened

What the change was

And explain how you benefited from this change

首先拿到题目之后我们应该迅速定位一个describe,三个say和一个explain,划出关键词positive change in YOUR life, when, where, what, how YOU benefited。

记录自己的花销keep the accounts,得知不当家不知柴米贵,从此不再浪费;

每天运动或者定期运动exercise regularly,让你养成了良好的作息习惯,身体健康;

练字practise calligraphy,改变自己的心态,增长自己的自信、增加自己的展示机会;

primary school, grade 2

at my own home

calligraphy: poor to excellent handwriting

prizes and praises; my first job (handwriting is just like your personality)

Back to my primary school, grade 2, I was good at every subject I learnt at that time. Actually, the courses then were elementary so we’ve got quite a few classmates who could get high marks in the exams as I did. However, every time my head teacher announced the results, my name has never been especially mentioned to commend just because of the poor handwriting on my paper.

With time went by, I got annoyed by my handwriting then I determined to learn calligraphy in my own home since my father was quite good at it. Therefore, I practiced really hard and used more than 10 copybooks for calligraphy. Under the help of my father, I improved so fast that I even, to some extent, got addicted to writing for more than 3 hours at a time. It turned out to be quite worthy because I was much more confident of my handwriting and felt proud of it.

As a result, I fully used it to get advantages from. Honestly, I got a lot like winning prizes in school and being admired by classmates. Naturally, my teachers and other parents praised me a lot, which made me happy. I know they are a little bit superficial but I just enjoy it until the day I benefited from my handwriting to get my first job. Perhaps it was the influence of the first impression, but I did get the chance to participate in a very important module in the company just because the interviewer thought I might have a very good character and capability to do things. You know in China we get an old saying: “Your handwriting is just like your personality.” It simply means someone’s writing style resembles his innate qualities. I think I really should thank my father and my hard work then.

I was almost drowned when I was little so I do not enjoy being in the water. I wanted to overcome my fear of water. And it was definitely a challenge for me. I learned it in a health club and practiced from watching some swimming videos. I started off in the shallow end, where I could touch my feet to the bottom. When I felt more comfortable, I went to the deep end. Now I am not that good at it but I conquered my fear of water and I go swimming at least once a week. It becomes a part of my schedule. Swimming is a great exercise and it is low impact if I can overcome the fear of water. I feel it’s refreshing, it doesn't stress my knees or ankles as much as other sports, and it works every muscle in my body. It's an intense workout, but at the same time the water is relaxing and stress-relieving.
