World Car Free Day is an attempt to raise "awareness of energy saving and environmental protection" as cities are plagued by traffic congestion and pollution caused by the huge number of vehicleson the road. Many cities set up car-free zones and encourage dresidents to walk, ride bicycles and use public transport.
