　　In the western countries, to see a doctor you should have an appointment at his private office. The doctor usually has a receptionist who answers the phone and makes appointments; he also has a nurse who assists him. Sometimes a laboratory is attached to his office. If you are very sick and the doctor has no time for an appointment, you can get quick medical care at the emergency room of a hospital. However, this form of treatment is sometimes very expensive. If you cannot get to the emergency room by yourself, an ambulance can come to wherever you are to transport you. In case of real emergencies,people in America dial 911 for help. This number is called for all types of emergencies,including health emergencies, fires, and police matters.
