Commonly, there is a gap between young and old on living, thinking and behaving as the old often hold much more traditional ideas. However, some people claim that these conventional views are not helpful to younger generations. For my perspective, I partly agree with that.
In fact, the old generation do gather some life experience and rules which are generationally useful in every time. For example, hard-working is one quality which is often emphasized by the old and apparently, the young generation should accept this suggestion. Similarly, the old also teach their young kids to behave politely to avoid meaningless fight and conflicts , forming more kind relationship with different groups. Besides, when confronted problems, the old could also help the teenagers with abundant experience to calm down and search for solutions. All the above advice will not be inadequate no matter when it is.
However, there are some suggestions or life experience of which the young generation should carefully think. First of all, the young especially the female may be taught to get married as early as possible as if they would “devaluation” as times goes by. Obviously, in modern society, this sort of advice could not be seriously treated for living alone do become a better option for more and more people with high salaries living on themselves. Apart from this, the old sometimes hold a bias view on new technologies like computers, Internet and games refusing to use and enjoy the convenience they bring, considering is unpromising to work in these industries. Thus, it is reasonable for the young to ignore such suggestions and hug the new world.
To conclude, suggestions coming from the old generations should be separately treated for part of them are dated and others may be suitable. The young should learn to distinguish them.

Undoubtedly, a direct outcome of the progress of globalization must be culture homogenization: people of different countries gradually lead similar life, like drinking Coca-Cola and using iPhone. The spread of dominating and overwhelming western culture leads to the loss of customs and tradition that is regarded as inappropriate and unnecessary by many modern citizens. However, as part of our culture identity, customs and traditions should be well preserved.
Admittedly, some of the traditional behaviors seem obsolete and incompatible with modern life. Centuries ago, people had limited knowledge towards natural environment they dwelled in and natural disasters they encountered. Hence, they might regard it as super power and seek for protection from deities through various activities, even including sacrifices. The superstitious activities proven wrong ought to be abandoned. For example, with the knowledge of climate and weather, it is unnecessary for people to prey for rains, which was once a royal activity at the beginning of the year.
However, there are actually many valuable customs and traditions that we need to conserve and hand down generation by generation. For each nation, it has something unique and special in culture that distinguishes it from others. Contained in the culture, it is the virtue and value advocated and worshiped for long. Every individual should assume the mission of carrying on the essence of culture by observing and performing customs and traditional behaviors. In China, there are numerous traditional festivals behind which there are stories of heroic undertakings, tragedies, and national spirits, such as Dragon Boat Day and Mid Autumn Day, memorizing a loyal minister and highlighting the significance of family reunion respectively. The celebration of those festivals is the ideal approach for modern people to build their culture identity as Chinese people.
In summary, although some of the customs and traditions are out of date, it is necessary for modern people to distinguish and hand down valuable ones to offspring.

Undoubtedly, due to the rapid development of science and technology, the last one hundred years witnessed tremendous progress in terms of wealth and health for both individual and the society. To begin with, the widespread use of chemical fertilizer and farming machines made it possible for millions of people to obtain large quantities of foods with high quality at low price, thus starving and malnutrition is no longer a tricky problem for most countries in the world. Also life expectancy is largely raised and longevity is enjoyed in various parts of the world as a result of sufficient nutrition and advanced medical conditions. Besides, computer technology and Internet enabled people to communicate with each other more conveniently, therefore work efficiency is significantly enhanced in areas like online banking, shopping and other E-business. International tourism has become increasingly prosperous and economic globalization and cooperation has gained stronger momentum owing to unprecedented development of transportation like airplanes and open policies adopted by most countries.
Despite all the progress, there are still many areas where great improvements are needed. The main concern is destruction of environment caused by economic boom, particularly in developing countries like China. Long-term use of fertilizers for cheap food and mass deforestation for industry use resulted in land degradation and ecological imbalance, which has become a severe problem for rural areas. Also, as the gap between rich and poor still exist in developed countries and is even widening in emerging regions, illegal immigration , violent crimes and corruption have become more rampant, which has become a dominant factor contributing to the instability of regional and international society.
Admittedly, with so many problems, people may justifiably feel uncertain about the future of human beings, however, I still have the faith that these problems can be tackled with our wisdom and determination. With the accumulation of experience and further development of technology, people have reason to believe that more progress will be made in the future.
